An MOT test is a legal requirement for most cars, light commercial vehicles and motorbikes over three years old. It helps ensure your vehicle meets current government safety and environmental standards.

During the inspection, our technicians identify faults or defects that could affect safety or increase harmful emissions. As a result, you can deal with problems early and keep your vehicle roadworthy.

As an authorised MOT testing centre, Halfway Garage Services uses experienced MOT testers to inspect a wide range of vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs).

What's an MOT?

An MOT test covers most passenger cars, motorbikes, small vans and light commercial vehicles, including minibuses with up to 12 passenger seats.

During the MOT test, our technicians check many important vehicle components, including brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, lights, exhaust emissions, windscreen wipers and the overall condition of the vehicle. In addition, we look for faults that could reduce safety or increase emissions.

Authorised MOT testing stations carry out MOT inspections using approved equipment and qualified MOT testers. After the test, the system records your MOT result digitally online. Your MOT certificate will then remain valid for 12 months, provided the vehicle meets the required standards.

If your vehicle fails its MOT test, we will provide a clear list of defects and advisory items that require attention. Once we complete the repairs, your vehicle can return for a MOT retest. In some cases, your vehicle may qualify for a partial retest.

Drivers who use a vehicle without a valid MOT certificate risk fines, penalty points and possible legal action. Therefore, keeping your MOT test up to date helps maintain your vehicle’s safety, legality and roadworthiness.
